Outstanding documentary films in cinemas across Bavaria from 21 November to 18 December 2024
Stepping out of the big city: DOK.fest München goes on tour through Bavaria and comes to your cinema!
With the DOK.tour we bring selected film highlights to the Bavarian region every year. In 2024 we present four special documentaries from this year's festival programme in 14 art house cinemas in five districts.

DIE GUTEN JAHRE
New York Times, People Magazine, Spiegel: the renowned photographer Michael Appelt has worked for all the big magazines. Now he is moving in to his former childhood bedroom in order to be there for his mother whose dementia is worsening – or for her to be there for him. After the trauma of a near death experience he is suffering from anxiety and depression himself. A loving and sensitively filmed mother-son story.

DISCO FOX
Six young women defy gravity and open up new climbing routes on the steep inclines of Greenland’s mountains. They prepare fervently for their expedition and test their limits. “Somewhere in the middle of nowhere” takes on a different meaning when life hangs in the balance hundreds of metres above the ground – dependent on ropes, physical strength and decision-making skills. A film about strength and confronting danger.

JOHATSU – INTO THIN AIR
Japanese night moving companies specialise in the art of disappearance and help those who need or want to leave their former lives behind. On their nightly missions they discretely and efficiently orchestrate people’s transition to a new existence. In the process, they often skirt the boundaries of legality due to the diverse motivations behind the disappearances.

ZWISCHEN UNS GOTT
Rebecca Hirneise goes back to her deeply protestant family. Until now, her relatives have always prayed but never talked about it. Now a conversation is opened up. Without bias or judgement, the director explores the family members’ beliefs. The spectrum is wide: there are the faithful and god-fearing, those who pray for miracles and those who don’t believe. The rifts between them are deep.
