DOK.forum Industry Training Talk in partnership with Documentary Campus and in cooperation with Bayerischer Rundfunk

Exploring legal and regulatory challenges of AI in documentary filmmaking, this discussion focuses on governance, privacy, and data protection. Topics will include permissions for AI content, navigating AI production laws, and ensuring privacy compliance with AI analytics.

The talk will be preceded by the keynote “Legal Puzzles in AI: 50 Shades of Grey Explored”.

Dr. Richard Hahn is a lawyer and partner at the media and IP law firm Lausen Rechtsanwälte. He holds a doctorate in IP law and a specialised lawyers degree for copyright and media law. Richard Hahn advises and represents national and international clients from the film, television, digital media and publishing industry and has a broad expertise in the legal support of media productions (fiction and non-fiction/documentaries) from development to worldwide exploitation. He also specializes in personal rights and related data protection issues. The evolving field of AI and its legal aspects have become an integral part of his daily practice. Richard Hahn is a regular lecturer and expert speaker eg for the Akademie der Deutschen Medien, Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München (HFF) and Hochschule Ansbach.

Eva Wolfangel is a journalist, speaker and moderator, focusing on future technologies such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, computer science, cyber security, data journalism, interaction between digital and real worlds. In 2018 she was named European Science Writer of the Year by the Association of British Science Writers, 2020 she was awarded German Reporterpreis. She writes for major magazines and newspapers in Germany and Switzerland — including ZEIT, Geo, Republik and NZZ — and produces radio features. Eva’s specialty is to combine creative writing and complex topics in order to reach a broad audience. In 2019/20 she was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT in Boston/Massachusetts.
