HEILIGABEND AUF ST. PAULI

A completely normal quayside bar on an unusual night._The film begins on 24^th December at 6pm and ends at 4am the next morning. The protagonists are the landlady, her partner and their guests, which include a driver, a sailor, an amateur boxer, several women, an old man, a young man and two police officers. Wildenhahn observes the events of the evening. The alcohol flows; words are exchanged. Sometimes the mood is festive and then suddenly it becomes aggressive. The dramaturgy is governed by the night; nothing is altered. Beyond the hard, monochrome surface of the images we can sense complex human stories. A direct cinema classic.
