Koolhaas's work is as much about ideas as it is buildings and Koolhaas's career has combined the practical application of his theories with celebrated work as a writer, researcher and social commentator. His 1978 publication "Delirious New York: A retroactive Manifesto for Manhattan", which celebrates New York as a social utopia, was heralded as a seminal text on modern architecture and society.
