THE YES MEN FIX THE WORLD
France, United Kingdom, United States 2009 – Director: Andy Bichlbaum / Mike Bonanno / Kurt Engfehr – Original language: English – Length: 90 min.
Gonzo political activists, media-savvy pranksters, The Yes Men are on a mission to expose the cynical greed that lies behind the actions of the world’s big businesses. Creating fake websites for giant corporations and appearing as their representatives at conferences, Igor Vamos and Jaques Servin, aka Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno, perform their gloriously creative "identity correction" on the world’s profit-hungry fat cats. Exxon, Halliburton and the Federal Government after Hurricane Katrina have been among their targets. They once created a spoof version of the New York Times with headlines such as "Nation Sets Its Sights On Building Sane Economy." In 2004 The Yes Men pulled off their biggest stunt to date: Servin appeared in a BBC World broadcast and accepted full responsibility on behalf of Dow Chemical for the 1984 Bhopal disaster. Millions saw the broadcast and, in an instant, Dow’s stock value plummeted by $2 billion. Featuring an array of tricks to make the world a better place, this film is bound to make you think differently. Captains of industry watch out – the Yes Men could be coming to get you!
