UXO - UNEXPLODED ORDNANCE

Unexploded ordinances, or UXOs for short, is what they call the landmines left behind after the Vietnam War and 19-year-old Bảy and his fellow recruits are tasked with tracking them down. The young soldiers spend two years living in a military camp in the province of Quảng Trị and search for the UXOs with their metal detectors so that the land can someday be used again for agriculture. The camera gets very close to the action and we share in the nerve-racking silence. Yet, apart from their mortally dangerous job, Bảy and his comrades are completely normal young lads who smoke, play football and chat about girls._An enthralling observation of an everyday life caught between the threat of death and teenage desires.
