African Encounters – Panel Discussion
With the six documentary films in this year’s retrospective we are not only celebrating the work of African documentarians, but we also want to take a moment to look back and reflect:
On the fundament of ten years of DOK.network Africa, ten years of exchange with film professionals and films from and about Africa, we will discuss what the future should bring for filmmakers, audiences and festivals on the continent and abroad. During the panel discussion "Honouring the past to inspire the future", DOK.network Africa director Barbara Off will exchange views with festival directors Mandisa Zitha (ENCOUNTERS) and Mohamed Saïd Ouma (Documentary Africa) as well as with director Férid Boughedir (film CAMÉRA D'AFRIQUE) and up-and-coming filmmaker Cyrielle Raingou (film LE SPECTRE DE BOKO HARAM).
The discussion will take place immediately after the screening of TALKING ABOUT TREES at the HFF cinema and is also to be broadcast digitally. More info about the screening soon here.
