At the end of the 1970s the sad fate of the children from Bahnhof Zoo shocked a nation. The story of a young girl addicted to heroin and her junkie clique quickly gained success. Based around exclusive interview footage, Spiegel Geschichte and Sky draw an intimate portrait of the German “drug girl,” Christiane F. 25 years later the journalists take a look back on her most famous story and describe how it came about. Moving interviews with the children, who have since grown into adults, show how difficult it is to leave heroin addiction and your past behind you.

Sky plays host to an exclusive reception and screening of the Spiegel Geschichte production, “Ein deutsches Drama,” on 15th May at 19:30 at ARRI cinema. The premiere of this painstakingly produced German documentary will include material that has never been previously broadcast and will be accompanied on the evening by a panel discussion led by the commissioning editor, Julia Driesen, and with the events’ protagonists.
