HITLER'S CHILDREN
Germany, Israel 2011 – Director: Chanoch Ze'evi – Original language: English, German, Hebrew – Subtitles: English – Length: 80 min.
All of them bear the heavy weight of their ancestry. “How much of a killer is there inside me?” ponders Monika Hertwig, daughter of the Plaszow concentration camp commader, Amon Göth. And she is not alone in asking herself this. Katrin Himmler, the grandniece of the “Reichsführer-SS,” is married to an Israeli and has made a conscious decision to try to overcome the burden of shame.
Chanoch Ze'evi also places Bettina Göring, grandniece of the “Reichsmarschall,” and Niklas Frank, son of the “Butcher of Poland,” in front of the camera. He even travels to Auschwitz with Rainer Höß, grandson of the camp’s commander and shows him meeting with descendants of Jewish victims. An intense, painful confrontation in film form.
