ITALY: LOVE IT, OR LEAVE IT
Germany, Italy 2011 – Director: Gustav Hofer, Luca Ragazzi – Original language: Italian – Subtitles: English – Length: 75 min.
Non mollare mai! Never give up! From this political standpoint, Gustav and Luca embark upon an investigation of the Italian soul. They are a homosexual Italian couple and have different opinions on their homeland. While one would prefer to leave immediately for Berlin, the other doesn’t want to abandon the land in which the lemon trees grow. So they set off on a search to find reasons why, despite the mafia, Berlusconi, sexism and piles off rubbish, it is still possible today in the home of Dolce Vita to lead a life worth living. An amusing, semi-documentary road movie with humorous collages, which affords us intimate insights into our favourite holiday destination and raises the ubiquitous questions of corruption and democracy - even in the middle of Europe.
