The 29th International Documentary Film Festival Munich has come to an end.

2014 has brought a record number of over 26,000 enthusiastic audience members. Over the course of a week DOK.fest screened 137 contemporary documentary films from 41 countries and more than 100 filmmakers took part in lively discussions with our cinema audiences. There was a superb atmosphere. We would like to sincerely thanking our wonderful audience, our guests from around the world and our funders, sponsors and partners!

Festival Director, Daniel Sponsel, takes stock: "Documentary film has definitely reached Munich audiences. Even the most extraordinary films were well attended this year and with the Open Air programme we succeeded in attracting many young audience members. We are looking forward to building on this in the coming year."

New records were also set in the children and youth programme, DOK.education. This year more than 30 school classes participated in the school programme. "We have no more than two classes in each workshop so that we can guarantee that they are of high quality. Being able to still break the 1000 visitors mark pleases me greatly!" said Maya Reichert, who took over the running of DOK.education in Autumn 2013.

In DOK.forum, upcoming filmmakers and industry members got their money's worth. Sebastian Sorg, the Director of DOK.forum says: "the DOK.forum programme was eclectic but not superficial and you could see that in the exchanges between filmmakers and audiences and in the great atmosphere at the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film. We would like to thank everyone who took part and we are looking forward already to planning for next year."
